Thread table

BSP, BSPT, NPT and metric fine threads with major diameter, tap drill and threads per inch.

Major diameter of the male thread and bore of the female thread – this is how to identify a thread with a calliper. All dimensions in mm.

How to identify a thread: Measure the outside diameter of the male thread and count the threads over one inch (25.4 mm). With tapered threads (BSPT, NPT) the diameter decreases towards the end. 3/8" BSP, for example, has an outside diameter of 16.7 mm and 19 threads per inch.

BSP / G – Whitworth pipe thread, parallel (ISO 228-1) and BSPT / R – tapered (ISO 7-1)

BSP and BSPT have the same number of threads and nominal diameter, but cannot be combined freely. NPT and BSPT do not fit together despite their similar size (flank angle 60° instead of 55°).
