Coupling profiles compared
Coupling and nipple must always have the same profile – the profiles are not interchangeable. This overview helps you choose: from the European profile and the French and international standards to flat-face systems and hydraulic couplings.

Shut-off or open flow?
Couplings with valve (shut-off) close when disconnected – the medium stays in the circuit and mould changes stay clean. Versions without valve (open, free flow) offer higher flow and less pressure drop; the circuit has to be shut off or drained before disconnecting. Most series offer coupling and nipple in both versions – combinable within the same profile.
Flat-face – when is it worth it?
With flat-face systems (RPT, CPT, CPX, HPF, SXF, SPF) coupling and nipple close with smooth faces. Practically no medium escapes when disconnecting, hardly any air is trapped when connecting, and the faces are easy to clean – ideal for clean rooms, sensitive moulds and frequent reconnection.
Which profile do I have?
The European profile (HPT), French standard (MPT, UPT) and international standard (IPT) differ in the nipple contour. Not sure? Measure the nipple or send us a photo – we identify the profile and name the matching coupling.
